NPC’s

Chapter 4 NPC’s

Drakus POV

I looked over to see five inhuman beings making their way over. Each one was different in size and stature from the one another.

The first one was a bipedal, humanoid beast with two heads. The creature’s entire body was around 2.5 meter tall. Its body was covered in black fur around the chest and neck area. The chest was bare said for the gauntlets and shoulder guards and armor leggings. Metal spikes protruded from the armor pieces, giving it a metal look.

The two faces were similar to Rottweiler dogs with red tattoos on top of each forehead. A spike collar could be seen around the neck. Its weapon of chose was a long two handed battle axe with blades a meter in length.

The creature was named Orthodox, Arsenal created NPC.

Standing next to him was an angel, literally.

She looked entirely human except for the two big wings that extended from her back. She stood around a meters tall, floating above the ground. Draped around her was a garb that was similar to a dress and vicar which covered most of her body except her hands, and head. A stole hung from her neck with a symbol of a brilliant sun at the end of each strand. (A stole is basically the long fabric part of the vestments, search it up for a better picture.) Her attire was colorful, white and gold with adorning golden designs.

Her appearance matched her angelic looks. She has long curly golden hair and a halo can be spotted just above her head. An aura of calmness radiated from her, easing any form of anxiety. On her left hand was a book while her right held a transparent orb.

She was the creation of Kaetzchen and the Sky Sanctum guardian, Leona.

Behind her and Orthodox were three additional figures.

The one on the right at first looked human but the lower half of her body was of a snake. She was about two meters tall. Adding in the length of her tail would make her height around three meters. Her tail proportion was about a foot in width.

The top was human while her bottom consisted of a snake’s tail. The hue of the scales looked to be a mixture of pink and magenta color. Her attire was a pink corset which emphasize seemed her breasts and hand garbs. The skin color of her upper body was mostly a light tan.

Half of her face was covered by a sleeping mask, hung at an angle. The right side of the mask had an eye with an X over it while the left was open. She was holding was holding a rod about a meter in length in her hand. It was similar to a caduceus minus the wing. It was adorned by a pair of intertwining snakes. A crystal orb lied in the mouths of the two snakes.

That NPC was Repitlia creation. Guardian of the Earthern Sanctum, Lissina.

The one next to her and in the middle was the weirdest one by far.

Its entire body was very geometric. The upper body is 2.5 meters tall and a 1.5 meters wide made out of blue crystal. A body made up of a combination of hexagonal prism and pyramid. The body was like that with a flat bottom. Much like Leona it was floating despite its short, stubby legs. Its arms were similar to its legs with a slightly smaller size for the arms and same applies to its three fingers. Six much smaller crystal protruded from the back. The face was made up of nine dots that formed an X shape.

Polygon was the name of the odd NPC. Manom NPC and guardian of the Frozen Sanctum.

Finally on the right side was an individual with blue‐greenish skin.

At a distance she looked to be human but was in actuality a Siren. On land she would have normal human legs and feet, but in water she would have a tail. Currently she wore a Hawaiian style shirt and shorts. A towel with very colorful flower design draped around her waist and downward to her knees.

Similar to Lissina her skin also had visible scales similar to a fish. She had slit pupils while the rest of the eye were a neon blue in color. Small fins could be seen on each side of her head along with a pair of gills at her neck region. Her light pink flowing hair looked strangely similar to cotton candy and reached all the way down to her stomach. She was carrying a staff that was a meter and half in length. A coral design was used with a blue orb at the tip.

Shae.Alpha created NPC and guardian of the Ocean Sanctum, Meral.

Although I didn’t physically show it, I shaking in my meta‐physical boots. If Manom’s and Nu‐Ru’s hypothesis was true then we were in big trouble.

All of the guardians were lvl 100 as they were made by us. We each designed them to be powerful in certain fields. For example my NPC, Dragos was built as a tank while an NPC such as Meral reflected Shae’s support play style.

Then there was the matter of the Boss Bonus. A special boost attributed to NPC assigned in Guild buildings. Since some guild buildings can work as a second tier dungeon they allow users to fit it as such. So buildings with multiple floors such as ours have mini bosses created NPC and finally Sanctum Guardian bosses as we called them.

The boosts are those of common end dungeon bosses. Increase in health, stats, reduce cool down for skills, and a plethora of other bonuses.

If a fight should to break out, could we possible win? We recently discovered how to fight but against our own NPC’s, do we even stand a chance? Nu‐Ru must have sensed my uneasiness because he put his hand on my shoulder and reassured me.

Forcing myself to calm down, I needed to get a grip. Right now, I needed to be brave. “Thank you for finally coming.” Putting my best winning smile, I addressed the visitors.

“Of course, what kind of servant doesn’t follow his master’s order?” replied Orthodox who; along with the other NPCs took their place in front of us.

“I-I see, now we just need to wait for the other three.”

“That won’t be necessary.” Hearing a voice, I looked to see three other figures making their way towards us. Two being Altina and Sirva, while the last one was the one who answered me.

It was abnormal just like Polygon. The entire body looked to be an outline of a man standing around two meters tall. The body was mostly black except for small suns, planets and galaxies that covered his body, constantly moving. It was as if his body held an entire galaxy inside of him.

The only clear features were his lips, eyes, nose and mouth. When he talked it sounded as if more than one person spoke. Giving an omnipotent feeling. The final NPC was Nabuu guardian of the Galaxy Sanctum. The creator of which was Trion Jazz.

Before anyone could speak up the NPCs arranged themselves before their respected creators and knelt before us.

“Everyone please offer your respect to the masters. Altina, Grand Sanctum Guardian has come to serve.”

“Earth Sanctum guardian Lissina has come to serve my masters.”

“Ocean Sanctum guardian Meral has come to serve my masters.”

“Beep beep boop boop beep beep boop beep.” Although Polygon spoke noises we all were able to understand him.

“Inferno Sanctum guardian Orthodox has come to serve my masters.”

“Sky Sanctum guardian Leona has come to serve my masters.”

“Night Sanctum guardian Sirva has come to serve my masters.”

“Dragon Sanctum guardian Dragos have come my masters.”

“Galaxy Sanctum guardian Nabuu has come to serve my masters.”

Addressing themselves one by one, I resisted the urge to ask why the point of the flashy introduction. The entire situation was as surreal as it is. However I didn’t had time to dwell on useless thoughts.

“Thank you for coming guardians.” Clearing my throat, I responded back.

“Your gratitude is unnecessary.”

“To those that created us, we shall obey any order.”

“Boop, beep beep beep boop boop beep beep.”

Speaking up they showed their devotion and loyalty once more. All the while the rest of us were contemplating the situation. Quietly, we conversed with one another.

“I guess we got rid of the idea of them possibly betraying us.”

“Now that we’ve confirmed it, what do we do?”

“Now we figure out where we are.” Stepping forward was Nu‐Ru, whom looked down upon Sirva.  “Sirva, your report please.”

“Yes! The surrounding area is filled with trees. From my reconnaissance it would seem that we’re located in the middle of a dense forest. There don’t seem any intelligent life form within the three kilometers and most of the animals and monsters that I’ve encountered are weak or too small to take notice.”

Wrapping up her report she was meet with silence and heavy contemplation. The answer was clear as day, we’re not on Earth or Eternia anymore.

“Is that all you have to report?” asked Luk, breaking the silence.

“Yes my master.”

I looked over to Nu‐Ru showing a slightly annoyed and disappointed look. Of which Sirva caught on quickly. “My deepest apologies! I failed to achieve your orders.”

“No, no you’ve done exactly what I told you, it’s… just that it’s different from what I expected.”

The Grand Sanctuary was originally located on a mountain range in the Kaoth continent. The entire building was embedded deep within a mountain. Hence that was how we were able to create the multiple floors deep within the mountain. We originally chose that spot as it would be perfect to defend against almost all attack. But now we’re located in a forest in god knows where.

After hearing the report everyone was on the same track. Once more we started to discuss between one another.

“At least now we know that we’re not in Eternia but another world, nyaa.”

“That doesn’t help our situation at all, if anything this is bad news.”

“Right now we should fortify our defenses while we’re still unclear about the situation.”

“I agree, we should take things slowly.”

“Agreed. Has there been any development or change within the Sanctum?” continuing on, Nu‐Ru took charge of the situation.

“No, all floors are fully functional.” Speaking in unison, the guardians gave an their instantaneous report.

“I see. Nonetheless take an extra precaution in fortifying the defenses. Assign extra guards and pay very close attention to anything that might be suspicious. Report anything and everything that looks to be out of place. ”

“Yes, master!” said the NPC’s, answering immediately in unison.

“Also I’m curious as to how you are able to pass on information and who’s in charge should a situation arrives?”

“That would be me. With my ability of [Overseer] I’m able to manage the Sanctum. Should a problem arise I’ll be the first to know of it and to respond.”

“I see. We’ll leave it up to you.”

“As you command my masters.” Speaking forward Altina bowed, aware of her task.

Things were wrapping up nicely. We solved one problem and things were slowly looking up. As the meeting was slowly wrapping up, it was time to part ways. However, just before we went our separate ways I decided address an issue that has been bothering me.

“Before you all leave there’s one more thing we need to discuss. From now all do not refer to use as ‘masters’, please use our names.”

All the NPCs looked up with wide eyes and surprised looks. Even the others were confused by my sudden request. Not backing down, I maintained my posture and waited for their response. Speechless, they looked to one another.

“Forgive me for interjection but is there a reason as why you wish for this request?” the first one to question Luk request was Altina.

“This is something I…we deemed unnecessary.” I gave the others a momentary glance in hopes that they would pick up. Nu‐Ru was the first one to notice so he nodded his head in agreement. The other slowly followed along.

“But how can we address our creators and rulers of the Grand Sanctuary with such informality?” responded Altina in a pained voice.

‘Just how high of a regard do they have for us? But now was a good time to learn more about them.’

“I would like to ask you all a question. What exactly do you see us as?”

All the NPCs answered respectfully toward their creators and us as a whole.

Lissina spoke first. “Beings who are wise and powerful, master worth serving under.”

Meral was second. “Perfect being, ones who are incapable of mistake.”

Polygon spoke next. “Beep, boop boop beep beep beep boop.”

Next up was Orthodox. “Beings with limitless strength that rule over us.”

Along with Orthodox was Leona. “Kind and compassionate, ones who will never abandon each other nor us.”

Sirva was just after them. “Whom we choose to serve with our lives.”

Then it was Dragos turn. “Beings stronger than all of us guardian, our masters.”

Rounding it out was Nabuu. “Omnipotent beings who have brought us together.”

Finally there was Altina. “Our creators and masters of this domain. Whom we swore to serve till ourlives oäare forfeit.”

After hearing each one of their speeches I didn’t know what to say. The others were in the same boat as I was. Some showed looks of proudness while some were clearly embarrassed due to NPC’s opinions of them.

“I see, thank you all for telling me this. Now I clearly understand everyone’s’ thinking but I still wish for you to address us by our names and not simply “master” all the time.”

“If that is all of your wish then we, the guardians will do our best to meet your wish.” Taking the lead and replying back, Altina and the rest gave into my request.

“That’s all for now. We’ll be in the Inner Sanctum, if there is anything wrong then immediately report it to us.”

Nodding that they understood their orders we left using the guild rings. Back inside the Council room everyone collapsed on their own chair.

To think that one would be both physically and mentally tired from just talking.

“Well it’s safe to say that they won’t be betraying us anytime soon.”

“Thank the heavens for that. I never knew it would be so tough to speak to my own creation.”

A light hearted conversation started up so that we could relieve some of the tension.

“We certainly dealt with one problem but now we have another problem. Just where the hell are we?”

Just as the mood was cheering up it fell thanks to Nu‐Ru’s interjection. As much as I wanted to put it off for now, he was right. The report Sirva gave 100% confirmed that we were in another world.

Then that gave birth to questions such as where were we exactly? How did all of us get here? Is there a way back? For each question that we answered ten more questions took its place. At this rate we’ll never make any sense of our situation.

“Alrighty then~, nyaa. This has been a long day so why don’t we all take a break and convene tomorrow, nyaa?”

Speaking up she brought the matter to a close. It was a unanimous decision so we called it a day.

Altina POV

Silence. That was all there was when the masters have made their exit. One could help but tense up at the sight of our masters. Waiting for several seconds to make sure that they were truly gone we stood up. The guardians were waiting for my orders.

“As they commanded we’ll increase our security. As of now the entire sanctum will be open for travel. Inform all the sanctums of the master’s orders. Have patrols and guards posted at the beginning and end of all the entrance.”

“Yes!” Everyone replied at once, understanding their orders.

Nodding my head in contempt, I made my out until the others started a new topic.

“Sirva, why did they order you to survey the outside?”

“What you said about the outside was true?”

“Yes the Grand Sanctuary is currently located in the middle of a dense forest.”

They were talking about the matter of the Sanctum being located in some forest. Curiosity spread amongst them as they struggled to fit the correct puzzle pieces.

“I didn’t realize that we were located in such open area.”

“What I wonder is how far below ground the Sanctum truly is if the surface is above ground?”

“No doubt the master have some form of strangle but powerful magic or techniques to carve such monuments.”

“Really? I never knew that. But I wonder why they would send Sirva out for such a simple matter.”

“Because there’s more to it than that.” Jumping in the discussion, I shared with them my own thoughts.

“What do you mean?”

“Although I’ve never been outside, I do know that the Sanctuary was originally located on a mountain in the Kaoth continent. Yet we’re in a dense forest. That but leaves only one conclusion. We, along with the Sanctuary have been teleported somewhere else.”

“It would make sense that they want us to increase security on each floor.”

Nodding towards Merals deduction the other guardians formed the same mindset.

“I have no idea what transpired but no doubt the masters have a plan. They are no doubt planning their next action, all we need to do is follow their command.”

Dismissing them of their worries, one last topic of discussion arose.

“Beep boop boop beep beep beep.”

“Polygon is right, can we really address them so casually?”

The others showed concerned faces regarding the subject matter. At first when they heard master Drakus order they were all greatly confused. Calling our creators by their name was disrespectful and something no servant has any right to do, but…

“We are servants created by our masters to serve them, their word is law and we will follow them without question! If they deem it as such then we shall comply without question!”

I look to see the others with the same fiery determination as always when it comes to our masters. They created us so it was only natural that we would obey their commands. If they say that red was blue then it was blue.

If they asked for something then we would do everything in our power to retrieve it.

If they ask for our lives then there would be no greater pleasure to die for them.

That was our devotion, our creed to our masters.

Getting back on track as we were distracted by all the topic changes.

“We have our orders, do not delay in your mission.”

Dismissing all of them, they bowed one last time before me before heading their separate ways. Satisfied, I too was on my way towards the Inner Sanctum.
