Prologue

Zadora continent has long fallen into darkness. It’s because of a kingdom called Sabaurian. It once becomes the most prosperous kingdom in the world. However with prosperity come things that couldn’t be avoided. The abundant resources make them arrogant and feel powerful. They are lost in the sea of [pride].

Seeing this behavior, the other country was consumed in [envy]. How such a kingdom could ignores the other and takes all the resources for itself? It is causing [wrath] from the other kingdom. How the Sabaurian kingdom monopoly their resources can only be considered as [greed].

The Sabaurian kingdom citizens on the other hand don’t feel anything wrong. They are sinking in pleasurable lifestyle and call forth another disaster. With the abundant resources they have, they consume more than they need. They developed another trait, [glutton].

As they are enjoying their consumerism, some of them lost their will to care for anything else. We have resources, we have power, what else do we need? They ignore other things and slack off from their duty as they are fall into [sloth].

They like to hold party as their lifestyle changed. Nearby countries also sent representative to come. As they don’t have enough power to go against this resourceful kingdom, they need another approach. The meeting of influential people followed by the corruption soon formed coalition. As money and food couldn’t attract people of this country, they retort to the last method. Women are sent to the royal families and noble to attract them. Finally Sabaurian knows the meaning of [lust].

The fall of this dynasty is as fast as it rises up to the top. However the backslash soon affects surrounding country. They have in some way become dependant on Sabaurian kingdom. When their pillar of support falls, the supported countries will follow after.

[Pride], [envy], [wrath], [greed], [glutton], [sloth], and [lust]. These traits spread out all around the world started from the fallen kingdom. Not long after, the whole world is affected by these. To stop the destruction to spread further, the holy church of Laragia asked for guidance from the God. Penitence, forgiveness, redemption, the God didn’t forsaken them.

The God show them the way out. As the seven deadly sins covered the world, they need to choose seven vassals to hold those traits within them. They will bear and shoulder the burden of the world’s sins upon themselves.

Seven people are chosen and they are undergoing a ritual. With the sins of the world bestowed upon them, it was an amazing accomplishment for them to keep their sanity. As the world rejoices, there is a single entity that is frustrated. It was the devil, the devil which lured the Sabaurian and the other countries to fall into the deadly sin.

His infection didn’t disappear; in fact it was condensed into seven vassals. Which one is easier, to deceive the whole world to fall into sin or seven people? When the devil realized the answer he was ecstatic.

The devil brings out seven contracts. The contracts for vassals of the deadly sins, they will be given power and in return they have to turn the world into chaos.

The seven vassals of the deadly sins was a human. However once they bear the burden of the world, their heart has gone dark. They are abandoned by the world as a scapegoat. It’s okay for them to suffer as long as the world survives. Is that fair?

It didn’t take a second for them to agree. They are now the devil’s subordinates. With the power they have, they easily take over the kingdom and countries all around the world. The fall of Sabaurian kingdom becomes the fall of the world.

No one dare to oppose the seven deadly sins vassals as the world once again shrouded in darkness and the smile on the devils face once again curved upwards.

Chapter 1

“From now on, your life is useless.”

That is the first sentence I heard when I regained my consciousness.

“From now on, you are the properties of Koldan kingdom. You can’t even breathe if it wasn’t allowed by us. Do you understand?”

From that day, I lost my name, my families and friends. I was taken to the Koldan Kingdom eighty nine point seven battalion camps. Why does it have point seven behind the eighty nine? Because our division should have never be mentioned and nobody knows if it was exist.

I was taken here by force but I couldn’t flee from this place. It’s not because I can’t but I don’t have any place left anymore.

When the Sabaurian country falls, I wasn’t even born. I can only hear the story from my father before I go to sleep. After the vassal of the deadly sin perform a coup the world fall into chaos. Koldan kingdom is one of the remaining kingdoms that don’t fall into their oppression. That’s why Koldan kingdom is recruiting people into their army. Not even adult man and woman, even a child like me was recruited.

My village is destroyed when the seven deadly sins army trying to expand their territory. They said that I am the only survivor. I don’t remember anything else since when I was awake I am already here.

My new identity is a recruit number 47 of the 89.7 battalion of Koldan kingdom, age 13. It has been almost six years since I first come to this place. This place is one of the true hells in the world. Ruthless training regime, heartless instructors, there is no allies in this place, only rivals. Out of six years I’ve been here, I couldn’t count how many others have died in the middle of the training. They said that it was necessary to go against the deadly sins army but to me, they are even worst than the enemy.

So, what kind of training that we do in here in the secret battalion? It was the training to be spy, assassin, fighter, archers; we are trained to be super soldier that could adapt to any situation. Those who couldn’t keep up will die eventually. From the 700 hundreds recruit now only 200 remains.

“Good job for surviving these six years in this camp. Today you will be assigned to a task as our secret weapon. Be proud and we wait for your accomplishment.”

“Yes sir!”

No one could ever imagine that 200 teenagers of age 12 to 15 is a trained killing machine. When we are deployed to the battlefield, we only have one aim. Complete annihilation of the enemy.

That day, the 89.7 battalion of Koldan army officially joined the battle.

Chapter 2

We are shadow in the battlefield. We are the nightmares of our enemy. We are the 89.7 battalion of Koldan kingdom.

We walk in the path of carnage; no one will be alive on the path we walked on. Out of seven battles we joined, it always ends in our victory. The number we kill exceed twenty thousands; the number of casualty on our side is 0.  Each one of us has killed more than a hundreds and around ten people each battle.

Our existence is the hope of the people against the deadly sins army. However it all ends that day.

That day we didn’t lose on the battlefield. As usual we achieve our dominant win. But when we arrived at our camp, something is different.

“Hahaha. It’s been too easy. I think if we keep going like this, we could even defeat the deadly sins by ourselves.”

Usually we didn’t talk among ourselves because of how grim our past, our training, our present condition and our future. But that day was different. Recruit number 107 is talking. Of course we don’t know the others real name except of our recruit number which is shown on our right chest. Embroidered in white which is now turned to red because the blood of our enemy on our black uniform.

“What are you saying 107? It’s still a long way.”

“hahaha. Why so pessimistic 34? Don’t you know how good I am in the battlefield? I can even kill more than twenty enemies on each battle. I can kill the deadly sins for sure. hahaha”

“Stupid.”

“What? Do you have problem 34?”

“no, it’s just because you’re so stupid.”

“what? Are you mocking me right now?”

“yes. Do you have any problem with that?”

Before anyone could stop them, the head of 107 already sent flying.

“look at how he died. He is just all talk.”

34 tried to leave but he was stopped by 68.

“what do you think you’re doing?”

“what?”

“killing other recruit is forbidden.”

“so what? The milk has been spilled.”

“don’t you feel any remorse for him?”

“why should I? after all I don’t know anything about him except his number.”

“Youu!”

To tell the truth, 68 is the oldest of us. He always tried to take the lead in our battle tactics and seems like he wanted to be the leader. Seeing what number 34 just do, he may feel that his position is in danger.

Soon the camp was divided into two factions, 68 and 34. It doesn’t take long before it turns into a battle among us.

From 200 it becomes 199. From 199 it needs two days before the number reduced to 50. Another two days before it reduces to 12. The next morning it becomes 1.

I am the sole survivor. I don’t want to kill them. However I need to do this to survive. When I killed my companion I feel nothing. As I heard they are screaming when I cut their limbs, I feel nothing. Why is this happening?

As I lift my head and look towards the dark sky, I stand in the mountain of corpse. Red liquid flowing down from my eyes, it wasn’t my tears it was the blood of my enemy. The crows are rejoicing for their meals, the smell of blood attracts wild wolves to gather around. A low howl can be heard but it’s not the wolves. It was mine.

After I killed I my enemies I feel nothing. That was normal. But seeing the people that have undergo the hell for 6 years with me dying because my own hands. Why I feel nothing?

I can’t even feel any emotion stirring inside me. I feel vacuous.

No resentment, no regret, I am not happy but I am not sad either.

What happened?

As I said that, the earth is shaking, the cloud in the sky is swirling above me, the wind is rampaging around me.

“Superbia, what happened?”

“I don’t know Ira, this is too weird.”

“Invidia, do you have any idea?”

“The last time this is happening is when we were ‘chosen’.”

“how is that possible Invidia? There are only seven of us.”

“I don’t know Ira, more importantly why your face look worried Superbia?”

“I think something must be happening, Invidia, Ira, can you call Acedia, Avaritia, Gula and Luxuria here?”

“Alright, we will leave immediately.”

I can feel that the area surround me is different. It seemed as if I was in a different dimension.

“For a human to not be affected by Superbia, Ira, and Invidia power, it is such a rare occurrence.”

I can hear a voice; it was dark, bottomless and ruthless.

“at first I thought that there were only seven of them. But for another one to appear, what are you?”

As it said that, I can feel that someone is looking at me, no, it was looking trough me. It looks deep inside my soul.

“Aaah.. interesting. I can’t even understand it. Whether it will be our allies or enemy, I can’t even tell. However it has chosen you as it vassal. From now on, your life will not be the same. Please be honored because I will grant you thy name. “

Is it talking to me? Is it talking about me?

“You shall be known as Inanis.”

When it finished saying that, the area around me returns to before. I was standing on top of corpses of my comrade. With the same dead eyes that is looking into the sky. With the same feeling of emptiness, however I gained something. A name, Inanis.
