The Eight – Chapter 3

“Ugh, my head hurts…”

I wake up and find myself still in the middle of the battlefield. The rotten smell of flesh and blood is thick in the air. The sun is rising so I should have been asleep for the night. What should I do now? It’s been four days since the battle of the 89.7 battalion of Koldan kingdom.

Should I return to the army?

After becoming the sole survivor of the incident, if I return now, it will only cause some commotion. I should get away from here.

It was strange that I feel nothing about it. I didn’t feel remorse for my fallen comrade. I didn’t feel any resentment towards them. I didn’t feel any lingering feelings, guild, sadness, I feel nothing of it. As if witnessing and involved in a massacre of people that has been growing up alongside you is a normal sight.

With that thought, I leave the bloody scene behind me.

Inside a hall which is magnificently decorated with statues, seven people are presents. They are all seated around a round marble table and someone standing up to start what seemed to be a meeting.

A middle aged man with a muscular body is standing up. He has a domineering air around him. His face showed some charisma and his eyes looked as if he is looking down on the other. He has a haughty attitude which seemed to be originated from his [pride].

“Since, everybody is already here, let’s start this meeting.”

“Superbia, what is the reason you gathered us here?”

A man asked that lazily while putting his head on top of the table. His appearance is normal but he is reek of gloomy aura around him. The only notable feature of him is a dark circle around his eyes that makes him older by ten years.

“I thought you are too lazy to ask Acedia.”

That cynical remark comes from a fat man who is munching on what looks like a chicken leg. His face looks more like a pig than a human because he never stopped eating since he arrived. In front of him, a tray full of food can be seen.

“Ugh, Gula, you are so disgusting.”

This time, a woman with perfect body stated her opinion. Her voluptuous chest is bewitching everyone. The curves on her body can be seen trough her tight leather dress and her face can make every man soul’s spirited away in sweet dream. The only distracting thing about her is her hands that are moving roughly around the area in between her leg.

“I can say the same thing about you Luxuria.”

“What do you care Avaritia? I even heard you recently make a harem for yourself.”

“Well, it’s just my nature to act so.”

The man referred as Avaritia smiled while replying. His appearance is a youthful man with a handsome face. His blonde hair and blue eyes can be considered as charming. However he has a bad habit of taking everything more than he needed. While him only need one woman for satiating his lust, he takes in more than fifty and put them inside his own castle.

“I wish I could think like you are Avaritia.”

“Oh, Invidia, I hope you didn’t mean what you are saying.”

Invidia is a young teenager girl but there is something feels off about her. Her long hair falls smoothly to the ground but it also covers half of her face on the way. She was smiling eerily and eyes that is despising any other existence other than her.

“Stop all of your nonsense chatter and let Superbia talks.”

A man then shows his irritation while slamming the marble table.

“My, my, your temper hasn’t change at all Ira.”

Gula said so while reaching for another chicken thigh in front of him. The man he called Ira is a muscular man. He wasn’t as big and tall as Superbia but his red hair and eyes as if telling everyone ‘don’t mess with me’.

“Everyone, calm yourself. You all know already that if you let loose your power here, nothing good will happens out of it.”

When Superbia said that, everyone attention then focused on him.

“You know that there is an important thing I want to discuss with you. As you know, recently the Koldan army advances have been disturbing our plan so I, Superbia, Invida, and Ira used our powers to them. However when we think our plan has succeed, a bizarre thing happened. I’m sure you must have realized it too.”

Superbia make a pause there to indicate the seriousness of this matter.

“Another one of the ‘chosen one’ has been awakened.” (Superbia)

“Impossible… I want to say that but I’m well aware of that fact.” (Gula)

“So, what is your point?” (Acedia)

“You all know what power we hold and if another one of us showed up, he must have that capability too.” (Superbia)

“So, you are afraid that he will go against us?” (Invidia)

“At the worst scenario, yes.” (Superbia)

“So, you are now gathering us to ask what should we do about ‘the eight’ right?” (Avaritia)

“Yes.” (Superbia)

“It would be great if we could meet with ‘the eight’ but after all we don’t know what power he holds and it brings a great risk for us.” (Ira)

“I want to meet ‘the eight’ though if that person is a charming male.” (Luxuria)

“As if that would happen, you will just take him and ‘devour’ him won’t you?” (Avaritia)

“Hahaha. If he was a virgin ‘deflower’ would be the correct terms. Why? Do you want to take me for yourself Avaritia?” (Luxuria)

“That’s so funny. Of course I want to make everything in this world belongs to me but I don’t want to associate myself with you.” (Avaritia)

“Back to the point. What should we do to ‘the eight’?” (Superbia)

“I suggest we do nothing for now.” (Acedia)

“Haha, aren’t you just lazy Acedia? For me as long as ‘the eight’ didn’t take my meal, I didn’t hold any grudge.”(Gula)

“I can say the same to you Gula. You only care about something regarding your belly. But that can be said the same for all of us. For me, as long as he didn’t touch my belongings, I don’t care.” (Avaritia)

“If ‘the eight’ isn’t a handsome cute looking boy I don’t care.” (Luxuria)

“As long as he didn’t have something I want, I don’t care either.” (Invidia)

“So, you guys planned to pretend nothing happened? How oblivious! Superbia, you heard their answer so let me voice my opinion. I can’t let this go. I will take care of this and if ‘the eight’ proven to be a thorn on our side, I will kill him.” (Ira)

“I always think that will happen eventually. Alright, Ira I’ll leave it to you.”

As Superbia said that, the meeting ends and five figures immediately disappeared from the room except for Superbia and Ira.

“I couldn’t believe that they are one of the seven like us.”

Ira said that while banging the marble table once again.

“I know. They didn’t have pride of their identity, unlike us.”

“That is true Superbia, out of us seven, only you and I have the same way of thinking.”

“That may be so. About ‘the eight’, you will take care of this personally right?”

“Yes, you know normal humans can do anything if he actually one of us.”

“Alright, I just hope that you didn’t let your temper clouded your eyes.”

“Hahaha, you know that my temper is always clouding my eyes.”

As he said that, Ira left the room leaving Superbia alone.

“Hahaha, how can Ira put himself on the same shoes as me? Hahaha. I am Superbia, the one and only.”
