  2. meh, The only way I could accept that line of logic is if 1 year was 1.6 times as long in the other world. Poor medical care is hardly an excuse for a 30-something year old to pursue a 15 year old.

Would it be acceptable for someone from a western nation to court a 15 year old from the country, Chad(life expectancy: 49.81 years)? Nope :v

    • medieval europe had girls being married off young so they can make babies before they die, things changed once young deaths dropped.

    • I might be remembering the wrong novel but , the days in 1 year of the other world is longer than that on earth. So 15 years old in the other world was actually about 18-20 years old on earth, perhaps?

        • ^ this. seriously its matter of different culture. it’s different world after all. if you try to apply every single modern (western) world ethics it can become weird. ethics is NOT physics, you can’t use a microscope and try to find the right ethics particle and wrong ethics particle.

    • I agree, life expectancy does not change an age difference. So long as they use the same increment of time(and they do) a 15 year old girl and a 30 year old man are still just that. That said this is a fictional story, and the two worlds operate on different laws so it gets a pass just barely. I understand some peoples distaste though, personally I’m more hung up on my dislike of Lela and how stupid the protagonist Seiji is for still just ignoring that she tried to murder his sister(twice) and playing friends with her. Add on that Lela is infatuated with Seiji for absolutely no reason and is reviving all sorts of praise and rewards for stuff she didn’t do and I can only see her as an eye sore character.

      • Infatuated for no reason? She knows that he is quite strong and has saved her several times. In a world full of monsters combat power will outshine beauty or romanticism by far.
Also all the talk about legal age came only later in our western culture. and only in the last 50 years that we have enough time to even start complaining and opposing it more.

    • Please also consider that healing magic is not wide spread or as strong. Elena’s healing magic at the start was very simple and was only for minor aliments. Take our common sense for treatment today, over a hundred years ago you would be considered mad or insane to suggest it.
Mid-teens would be the most acceptable period to have a child as that is when the body is at it most robust, mother and child death was also high in the society of this setting.

  3. Livespan and timespan is a different thing livespan of 50 just mean that people die around 50 years old because of monster or sickness

  6. Age issues and age gap issues are cultural. Statistically speaking, many of us in Western Europe and America had at least one pair of great grandparents or great-great grandparents of similar age / age gap (ie: a female in mid-teens and a male in mid-twenties). Until the mid-twentieth century marriages of girls 16 years old was seen as the low end of normal, and only if their husbands were more than ~10 years older than them would anyone think it notable enough to comment on it. And this is less than 100 years ago in the West.

In the East that situation pretty much still exists. The legal age for marriage in Japan (for females) is 16 since the 1990s (although I think in the Tokyo area it is 20 w/o parental consent?). If I recall correctly, prior to the 1980s the minimum age was 12 (but required parental consent, which was rarely given considering the average of marriage was in the late teens).

That [12] is the same age as most of Europe from the time of Rome until the late 1800s. Generally, once a female had her period, she was considered old enough for marriage, although usually it was put off a few years (the average age being somewhere between 16 and 20, depending on the area and era).

  7. If people can’t handle a Japanese MC perving on a 15 year old princess in another world, then maybe Japanese stories just aren’t for them, since 15 is legal there. For those people it might be a better idea to find a nice CN, where it doesn’t matter what her age is, if she is only used as a spirit furnace, or other such one-sided rapey things. That oughta put things in perspective.

  8. Each country has its own culture and value. We can not apply one country’s value to another. Thanks to those readers who explained the cultural differences. Thanks for the chapter.

  10. Damn, poor Lela. Thanks for the chapter. Wow we’re 186 chapters in and now people are complaining about that?
