Chapter III
After quickly figuring out his skills, Mordred had successfully gotten down from the life or death peak of the mountain. Though as he thought back he was never really in any actual danger, since if he had fallen off, [soft landing] would’ve kicked in an he’d have realized his powers. From that point he could’ve easily jumped down without much worry thus making the initial panic a little redundant.
As he got onto the ground he shifted his gaze to the body of the dead dragon. A large wound was opened at the back of its neck and red blood oozed from it. It no longer breathed or moved; dead in the truest sense of the word. As Mordred’s stomach growled he contemplated what a dragon would taste like but immediately discarded that thought.
Since leaving it like this was a little pitiful Mordred decided to burn the corpse. Using one of his high ranking [magic] skills, known as [inferno] he burnt the corpse, immediately turning it into ashes. A small spherical glowing orb shot out of the corpse and ascended high into the sky, perhaps it was its fleeting soul?
He offered a silent prayer to it, though it was a shitty lizard at least it was a dead shitty lizard and the dead should be given a moment’s thought before being completely forgotten about.
Now then, the next problem other than being lost in the forests was about himself. He checked to see his clothing and they were all same looking to the ones he had known from his game avatar. Also his skills were accessible as shown by his mastery over the [assassin] and [magician] skills. He pondered about whether it was possible for him to open any kind of menu, [skills], [inventory], [character menu], etc.
In the game he only needed to press [P] for [player options], or [i] for [inventory] but that was obviously not going to be the case here. He tried various things like moving his hand across, thinking about it hard enough and other such things.
…
“Now way… it worked.”
After a while of doing silly it actually worked. He slid down his finger while thinking about the command hard enough and it opened.

No matter how many times he saw his screen it always filled him with joy at how overpowered and maxed out his stats were. He tested out his strength a little by punching a tree and on impact it exploded into a million splinters, not only that the surrounding trees were also complete eviscerated.
He didn’t know how strong the residents of this world were, if even there were any, but he had doubts that they could punch a tree to explode.
For the next few hours he stood at the spot going over his [equipment], [inventory] and [skills menu]. He needed to make sure they were all functional and nothing was missed. All of his things were accounted for and could be used at any time, thus there was no problem there, he even tested out most of his skills and they all worked perfectly.
Though he had serious doubts on whether he would ever end up using his ‘serious’ equipment since they were so overpowered it wasn’t necessary. Well, it couldn’t hurt to have a fallback plan.
As Mordred was searching through his [inventory] he had chanced upon a certain item.
[Insignia of the Crimson Dragon Lord]
It wasn’t any equipment or armor piece, it was a [use] item. In [Hellgana], there was a system known as the ‘familiar system’ that allowed players to permanently tame a special monster and use them as a sort of partner or pet. The method to obtain them would vary but for the most part every time a monster was defeated there was a very small chance that it would drop an ‘egg’ that could be used to awaken that monster and it would become the player’s companion.
However the [insignia of the Crimson Dragon Lord] was a little different, in that it was an event item given to the player who had won the world PvP tournament, and the obvious winner was the rank 1 player in the game ‘Mordred’. The ‘Crimson Dragon Lord’ was actually the raid boss of the hardest dungeon in the entire game, ‘Hellgate’. It had two forms a humanoid form and its true form the dragon lord form, it would swap between these two forms for different purposes.
The humanoid form allowed it swifter and agile movement, its primary attribute was actually physical oriental combat. While its dragon form was less mobile but it had the ability to fly and rain meteors on the players causing massive damage; it was aptly titled the ‘rain of death’ as it was famous for wiping entire raid parties if not properly prepared for.
That being said, the ‘crimson dragon’ wasn’t technically the strongest dragon in terms of the lore of Hellgana, that titled went to the ‘golden dragon lord’, but that was in game. It was up for debate as to whether that entity existed in this world as well.
Mordred had such an item, though he had yet to use it as there was no real need to. Having a ‘crimson dragon lord’ around would almost be game breaking. Dragons were naturally powerful in the game with high specs so having it assist Mordred would just make him invincible.
However, right now the situation had changed greatly. He was abruptly taken to an unknown place which he had no knowledge of and currently he had no allies to depend on. Even if it was just an AI controlled monster, having at least one ally in such a scenario could ease his mind even a little.
Mordred thought back to his first time fighting through the endgame dungeon, ‘Hellgate’, for that game the AI was fairly advanced and even reacted to player movement intelligently. It even had a dialogue prepared if the player entered the boss room solo. The first time he had entered that final dungeon solo the crimson dragon lord said the lines ‘I’m impressed you made it this far on your own, but this is the end!’ and a long and tedious battle ensued.
Fond memories.
Now then, the problem was the how powerful this ‘crimson dragon lord’ would be. In the case of most familiars it had only a single class and the level of that class was correspondent of the player’s level. For example a low class familiar the ‘banshee’ would have the single class of [necromancer] and its level would be whatever level the player would have, if it was level 200, the banshee would also have a class level of 200.
However that wasn’t the case with boss class monsters. Boss class monsters had three classes with a maximum level of 200 each, just like players. The crimson dragon lord’s classes were [magician], [warrior] and [necromancer], thus its actual level was at the maximum of 600. For this reason Mordred surmised that it was at least much stronger than that weak red dragon he slayed with a single strike.
“I guess it would just rot away in my [inventory] if I didn’t use it here.”
He tapped on the egg shaped insignia and an option dragged down.
[Use]
[Description]
[Destroy]
[Trade]
Oddly enough in the game this item wasn’t tradable as it was considered an ‘event item’ but as the situation had changed he wondered if it was possible now. He would never actually do it but it was some food for thought. Feeling a little curious Mordred tapped on the [description] option. A light blue holographic text appeared in front of his eyes that read.
A beautiful red egg. It contains the essence of the [Crimson Dragon Lord]. Obtained from the event: [The Inauguration of the Crimson Dragon Lord]. Given to the winner of the grand tournament.
A faint singing can be heard from within the egg.
It was just flavor text that many items within the game had. After sating his curiosity he next pressed on the [use] tab. Upon doing so the egg lit up like a bon fire and floated just a bit above him. It shun for a few minutes as it pulsed in the air with numerous holographic magic circles surrounding it.
Once the light had subsided the egg transformed into a humanoid shape. A young woman with large ‘assets’ stood in front of him. She had crimson hair, two thick horns that curved forward, sharp and fiery eyes. Her figure was slender but toned just perfectly. She wore a hybrid plate metal/leather armor, black and red in color with the mark of the crimson dragon lord on her breast plate. Covering her hands were black metal gauntlets and her legs were long reaching black greaves.
Strapped to her back was a large great sword with a menacing red blade. Everything about her screamed out high specs, from her armor to looks, she was nearly perfect with just the right blend of femininity and strength. She was the Crimson Dragon Lord.
Without giving much thought Mordred blurted out.
“Beautiful.”
“Thank you, my master.”
She spoke and gave a small bow of gratitude. Of course she did, but it was a little odd since familiars did not speak in [Hellgana], they just assisted their owners. It could be that the ‘Crimson Dragon Lord’ was a little different since it was from an event and it was a raid boss but that was rather unlikely.
At the very least the fact that it referred to Mordred as her ‘master’ meant that she was loyal. In the worst case scenario if she betrayed him, he was still confident he could beat her. Though it would be a shame if that came to pass.
“State your name.”
He decided to show a little authority since he was the ‘master’.
“I am referred to simply as ‘Crimson Dragon Lord’, I do not yet posses a proper name, I would be most honored if you could bestow me with one, my master.”
This part was the same as [Hellgana], players could name their familiars upon first summoning them. Mordred had to think for a while to come up with a suitable name for this beauty standing in front him.
“Very well from now on you’ll be known as ‘Irina’.”
“Understood, thank you my master, for bestowing upon me with such a wonderful name.”
She gracefully bowed once more in gratitude. At this point he wondered if she would say the same thing regardless of whatever name he gave her. For example if he gave her the name of a man, would she still be happy?
Of course he wouldn’t do something so ridiculous but it was more food for thought. Since the line between reality and fantasy was getting incredibly blurred he wanted to make sure.
“Just to be sure you still have access to your ‘true form’ ability correct?”
Mordred asked, to which Irina nodded.
“Correct, I can at any time transform into my true form. Would you like for me to do so right now?”
“No, that’s fine. As long as I know it’s possible that’s enough for me.”
In any case she did not seem like any sort of scripted Ai, but more like a real person with real intelligence. Why not? His powers became real thus it would stand to reason that Irina too was a complete being.
“Then, my master what is first on our agenda?”
And there it was, the 20 million dollar question, what exactly was on the agenda? He turned to look at the ashes of the dragon he slew earlier, most of it was blown away by the wind, but looking at it, it really hit him. He really wasn’t in his own world anymore, this fantasy world was now his reality. So then what was he going to do?
“Impressive, as expected of my master. A dragon of that caliber is no match for you.”
Irina praised with a satisfied look. Though she was of the same dragon race it didn’t particularly bother her that there was a dragon corpse. She barely knew it and she particularly care about anything other than her master.
“Hmm? Ah, yeah… though I doubt I’ll get any real answers, I’ll start by asking you. Do you know anything about this world?”
Irina looked a little dejected as she answered with a negative. She wasn’t able to give her master the answer he wanted.
“Unfortunately as I was only born a few minutes ago I have no knowledge of this place. Forgive me.”
“it’s fine, that’s understandable. Then our first order of business would be to gather more information about this world.
“Understood. I will do my utmost to accommodate your wishes, my master.”
Things like being called ‘master’ while most people would be a little reluctant to accept it, having been exposed to such things from popular culture and other entertainment mediums, Mordred didn’t really mind as much. In fact many people back in [Hellgana] went as far as referring to him as ‘King’ due to his power.
That being said, the problem now was in which direction to travel as there were only trees in every directions. It would be easy to just cut down trees in a straight line and eventually he’d reach some point of interest but that was rather unintelligent thus he decided against it.
Since he had inherited his character’s abilities he could probably go without food for days or weeks, but whether it was the same for Irina was a mystery. At most since she was also at level 600 she should be able to go a few days without sustenance.
Since there was no point in dawdling around in the middle of a forest he decided to pick a random direction and started to walk. As he did he noticed the presence of various monsters and animals in the background, some big, some small but none of them were a real threat. However the monsters and animals steered clear of his path as they were wary of him, he understood well the difference in power between them.
This was a normal thing in [Hellgana] as low level monsters would avoid players who’s level were far too high for them. It was probably the same thing happening now, but the more interesting thing was that he could actually ‘feel’ their presence and gazes. It was an innate feeling, hard to describe.
Then he realized what it was.
“Ah, so this is [intuition].”
[Intuition] was a special skill that appeared once players had maxed their [warrior], [assassin] and [necromancy] skill. They were able to feel the presence of enemies, well in the context of the game it was a ‘mini-map enhancer’ that increased the detection range of enemies from the standard 50 meters to a further 250 meters. Right now it had become more of a ‘sixth sense’. If the user wished he could stand still and concentrate to increase the detection radius to over 500 meters, it was similar in function as a submarine’s sonar.
“Perfect.”
