(Author notes: I’m sorry… I know I have too many unfinished stories on hand but I just can’t stop myself from writing this. As an author I rely too greatly on my inspiration… I’m ashamed but please bear with me…)

Prologue – Terms and Condition

『King of Kings』 is a strategy game that is loved by people. It’s simple interface and casual gaming style has made it one of the best game of the year. Everybody can play this game. It was a simple game of building your town and attacking others. Creating armies to invade territory or building castle and walls to defend your city, there are many ways to play the game.

However for true gamer, this game also holds greater charm. Complex city management is provided for those who opted for hard mode. Nightmare mode brings fantasy to the game with the appearance of monster and the demon lord army. Fantasy and strategy combined together made this game a hit among other genre.

Patched and updates never stopped coming to improve the user experience in playing the game. Civilization patch, industrial revolution, Stone Age, prehistoric, online match option, there is no way to stop this game from getting bigger and bigger.

Kazuki Rhea is one of the highest ranked players in the online ranking. 『King of Kings』 has been his life. He has played the game for three years and didn’t show any sign of getting bored of it. Every time a new patch comes out, he will try to be the first one to clear it. He also contributed to the community by making game guides showing off different strategy approach.

Today, he tried to gets home as quick as possible. Ignoring the meeting for high school graduation ceremony. Right now he only has one thing in mind, the latest update of 『King of Kings』. As a game that constantly evolved, the game itself has moved from 2D texture to 3D models. Today, for the first time in history, they are implementing the 4D display. Ultra HD screen wasn’t even necessary since the improvement was on the game mechanics.

Rhea arrived home and goes straight to his room. Turned up his high spec PC that only need less than five seconds to boot, all of his allowance go to his PC that served only one purpose, 『King of Kings』.

He clicked on the jeweled crown icon on the desktop and the game instantly loaded in a blink of an eye. The screen then showed a loading screen with a castle on the left, a dragon flying letting out a dragon breath on the right, and golden throne in the middle.

The size of the updates today is roughly 10.7GB but in less than a minute Rhea computer has finished updating.

In less than a minute, Rhea is already seeing the 『King of Kings』 main menu.

Single player, Multi player, Rank match, setting, achievements, there is nothing changed here. He clicked on the single player and another option pops out.

Rhea clicked on the Yes button and a new windows pops out.

Of course Rhea skimmed past this part and clicked on a small box in the bottom. He clicked next and his screen turned to black.

“What happened? What is this? Is this a bug?”
Rhea was outraged at the scene in front of his eyes. Before he could say anything else, a bright light enveloped his body and he lost his consciousness.

Rhea never imagines that the long awaited day will turn into something he couldn’t comprehend.

A few seconds later, Rhea PC screen turned on again and a new window appeared.

Rhea found himself standing in a white room. The room was colored white and as far as his eyes can see, there is no end to the sea of white.

“W-W-What?!”

Rhea jumped in shock seeing the semi translucent window that is floating in the air. Is this the new 『King of Kings』 4D display? Rhea wasn’t stupid so he know that this isn’t right. A β tester? In another world? Impossible level? What kind of joke is this?

“No, this isn’t right. Please stop this right now, this isn’t funny!”

The windows then flashed into the agreement contract. Rhea body is trembling when he read that.

“No, this isn’t true! I have been scammed!”

“Are you kidding me? Are you the self proclaimed 『God』 mentioned in point 4?”

“Darn it.”

Rhea has read couple of novels where the MC is transported into another world. However experiencing itself was different. He was full of anxiety. What will happen to his family when they know that he is gone? What will happen to his beloved PC? He was transported into another world; will he get a cheat skill? However what he truly wanted is playing the game, 『King of Kings』. He doesn’t have any intention of becoming a hero in some kind of fantasy world. As if it can read his mind, a floating translucent window appeared.

Rhea head is aching as he read that. It was good that he could still be able use the 『King of Kings』 game interface. But what’s with the explanation that respawns is impossible? He only have one life?

“What? You said that I don’t need to be the hero but requiring me to defeat the demon lord, isn’t that the same thing?”

“Waaaiiittt!!!”

Chapter 1 – villager A

Without given a chance to say his opinion, Rhea was transported to another world. He found himself standing in a wide prairie. It was an empty plot no matter how far he observed. Only a forest behind him and a lake to the west exist.

Rhea never seen this scene before but somehow he felt familiar with it.
“That’s right; this is the 『King of Kings』 game world. A lake and a forest, this is 「Novern」 starting point.”

When playing 『King of Kings』, there are various starting place that the player can choose. Each starting point has their pros and cons. 「Novern」 is a starting place that has abundant resources of wood and fish but this place lacks a mountain that is necessary to gather ore and minerals. Even a stone quarry is hard to find. However this place, Novern is Rhea favourites starting point. Since in the beginning of the game, wood and fish is more important.

“Let’s see , how do I bring out the menu?”

When he said that, a new window appeared.

『King of Kings』 is a game that relies heavily on player decision. A new status or menu can only be accessed if the requirement has been met. The requirement can be fulfilled by establishing a building, discovering resources, or involved in an events. Rhea is familiar to these systems and immediately goes to try out his new commands.

“《Settlement status》!”
As Rhea said that in his mind, a blue floating window appeared.

“Well, that is just exactly like 『King of Kings』 starting point. Now, let’s get some work and build things. 《Build》!”

When he said that, Rhea can feel as if he was floating in the sky. He was seeing the Novern region from bird’s eye view. He then can see the menu on the floating windows.

As the number of resources varied, there will be more building available to be placed in the region. By making some building, more building can be accessed. For example, by building a simple shack, Rhea will be able to build normal shack and large shack, and simple sawmill. After making sawmill and gaining woods, he will be able to build simple wood house and so on.

So, right now Rhea priorities is gathering some grass.

When starting 『King of Kings』, player will be given a villager to do some gathering task. However Rhea couldn’t see anyone around him.

“Clearly the settlement status mentioned 1 population. But where is my villager A? I need to ask him to gather some grass.”

After standing there and looking at the surrounding for an hour, Rhea stands there frozen in place as if he was struck by lighting.

“Don’t tell me, I’m the villager A?”

It took some time for Rhea to accept the fact that he is indeed the villager A.

“Darn it. I have no choice but to collect some grass. But, how to do it?”

When playing 『King of Kings』, Rhea only need to make a right click on his mouse and the villager will start to collect resources. Right now, how could he click a mouse to move himself?

Rhea was given hoe, fishing pole, hammer, axe, and sickle. The rest of the tools weren’t any of use to Rhea just yet. A hoe can be used to plow the field but the field isn’t buildable yet. The axe could be used to take down a tree but without sawmill it couldn’t be processed. The fishing pole is useful to gather fish as early food resource. But right now he should focus on collecting grass.

With heavy legs, accepting his fate as Villager A, Rhea takes out his sickle and move to a pasture. Before he could do anything, a window pops out and played a video on how to harvest the grass. A grass resource will be added by 1 each time he clears out 1×1 meter of grass. He now has a 20×20 plot of grass to cut.

Each time 1×1 meter plot of grass is cut, a new bundle of grass appeared automatically. After clearing the number that he needed, he is finished but it wasn’t added to the resource. He saw behind him, twenty bundle of table-sized grass laid on the ground. He finally realized what he lacks. It was the resource center. A place where the resource will be stored when a storage haven’t been build.

He switched to the bird’s eye build menu and examined the place. He knows a good place as resource center has to be easily accessible to make building easier later on. He picks up a place that will be a resource center. It was located in the middle of the forest and the lake. It wasn’t a big land; it was a 20×20 meter plot. It doesn’t require anything to build so he doesn’t need to make it too big or too small. 1×1 meter of the plot is enough to hold 5 numbers of resources. Although it was called a resource center but it wasn’t a building, only an empty plot to put up things.

After that Rhea remember another annoying thing. He needs to move the 20 stack of grass to the resource center. He immediately resumes his build mode and placed a simple shack from the menu. The simple shack than appeared in front of him, he can move it, rotate, and decide where to place it. As if playing 『King of Kings』 on the PC but the mouse is replaced using his hand. He played the game countless times and already had an idea of the soon be called city layout. He decided to put the simple shack at where the residential district will be built. As soon as he confirmed the location, the 20 grass stack disappeared from the resource center and it appeared on the simple shack location along with some ropes and blue print.

At the 『King of Kings』, some of the villagers have to perform hammering and building movements at the building site. Rhea is relieved that he doesn’t have to do that. He knows that since the grass and rope start to move by itself and start to form the shack foundation.

Since he was too lazy to gather another stack of grass, he decides to try his luck in fishing since his stomach starts to growl. When he arrived at the lake side and take out his fishing pole, another video showing on how to fish is played. He followed the instruction and after 10 minutes finally he gets his first catch. Of course he needs to bring it to the resource center to be considered as a resource but since he will be eating it directly, he didn’t feel that he needs to bring it to the resource center.

Rhea gathered some branch from the forest. Although it wasn’t considered as wood resources, he is now trying to use it to make fire. At 『King of Kings』, food resource is used by villager but it wasn’t clear how they cook or eat them. Right now, Rhea is using his knowledge on wilderness survival to improvise the 『King of Kings』 system.

After 30 minutes of continues effort to rub branches together, he finally succeed in making a small fire. He roasted the fish and eats it. It was a simple meal that is enough to keep him alive.

After one hour has passed, his first building is completed.

Chapter 2 – villager B

Rhea arrived at the shack and inspected it, although it was made from grass, it is surprisingly firm. It can even hold out when it is raining. The shack is accompanied with a grass bed inside but no other furniture. Rhea then tried to open the Settlement status.

“Why is the population isn’t increased?”

Usually, each time a new shack is built, a random number in between 1-4 will be added to population. It was a random roll so it all depends on luck. 1 is a single villager, 2 is usually a pair of married villager, 3 is a small family with 1 child, and 4 is a small family with 2 child. That is the maximum number you can get with a shack.

“Perhaps, this shack is for me? So I need to make another one for villager B.”

Repeating what he has done so far, Rhea collected the grass and build another shack. He also caught five fishes in case the new villager will be hungry.

After waiting for an hour, the shack is completed.

He gets the lowest 1 population increase from the shack. He wanted to curse his luck but he holds himself back. At least he is now able to get another pair of helping hands.

“But where is villager B?”

Rhea looked around but there is nobody else except him. He get’s inside the shack and its empty too. But suddenly the door of simple shack 2 is opened. From outside, a girl comes in. She appeared to be in mid teens. Yellow shining hair tied up in ponytail, blue clear eyes and red rose lips waiting to be eaten. Her body is covered by one piece clothes made from leather that clung tightly to her busty chest and round bottom. Seeing her appearance, Rhea also just realized that he wore the same leather clothes except it was a leather shirt and pants.

“Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Rachel. I’ll be moving in here.”

Rhea is frozen for a moments before replying. He was stunned. Whether because of the fact she appeared out of nowhere, could talk normally, her out of the world beauty, or her name that isn’t villager B.

“H-H-Hi… my name is Rhea.”

Rhea didn’t even notice the windows as his gaze is still fixated on Rachel.
“Nice to meet you Rhea-san.”

“N-N-Nice to meet you too.”

It was an awkward scene because Rhea couldn’t say anything except replying to Rachel.
“So, is there anything that I could do?”

Rachel asked Rhea with a smile. Rhea actually has a lot of things that he want to ask, like how did she end up here and about her background but every time he want to ask, he couldn’t let out the world. He was afraid that she will reply with mechanical tone saying: “That question is prohibited to be answered. Access restricted”.
So for now, he only has a task for her.

“Can you harvest some grass?”

“I’m sorry, I can’t do that. That is a job for a man. I don’t think that it is suitable for me.”
Rachel replied with a cold tone. It was as if he just stepped on a mine. Rhea realized that this is still 『King of Kings』. The difference between genders is applied here. Women are prohibited from doing hard labor work except for tending to livestock, garden, and farm. Although women may not be able to engage in hard labor but there are jobs which can be done by women only. For example, tailor and nurse. There is an upgrade to unlock gender equality but it is still far from where Rhea stands.

“Then, can you prepare a meal for the two of us using the fish?”

“Although cooking isn’t my best point but I’ll try.”

Finally there is something that he could ask Rachel to do. Because of that, he also needs to cut more grass. Since he is now able to build normal shack (40 grasses), large shack (80 grasses), and simple sawmill (100 grasses), he may decided to gather more grass and build sawmill directly. But thinking that he need to gathered wood alone, he abandoned the idea. It will be better to just add more population first since simple shack is also upgradeable to normal shack from the build menu.

Just after Rhea finished harvesting 35 grass and move them to the resource center, it was already dark. He wanted to make another shack but the bird’s eye view build menu isn’t providing night vision so he decides to do it early in the morning. It is unknown how the shack could have a candle lighted the inside when he entered. Rhea tries to close the door and he can see the candle started to dim. He opened it again and it is burning brightly. He was doing that for some minutes like a child that is playing with the refrigerator lights.

He entered inside and wanted to sleep. His body is tired. This is the first time he use a sickle and on this day he cleared 75 m2 of land. Suddenly someone is knocking on the door. It must be Rachel. He was nervous at first but talked to himself that he was an NPC and calmly opened the door.

“Hi, good night Rhea-san. I’ve finished cooking the fish. Please come to my shack to eat.”

Rachel grabbed his hands so there is no way for him to refuse. She keeps on holding his hand until they arrived at her shack. Inside, the shack seemed to have grown bigger. There is a simple table and chairs in the middle and in the corner there is something that looked like a stove. On top of the table, there is a food that seemed to be a soup, served in a bowl. It was unknown at how Rachel is able to cook the food or where she gets the ingredients. It is also unknown where she gets the tableware or furniture. But Rhea understands when he saw a window popping out.

Rachel guided Rhea to sit down on the table. He tasted the soup and the taste was delicious.
“This is good.”

“I’m glad that you like it.”
Rachel smiled at him and Rhea face turned as red as tomato. He then continues to finish his meal quickly.

It was amazing at how changing jobs have a great effect. The meal that can be served for two people only required 1 fish resource. The taste is amazing, and when he builds a canteen later on, he understands why it could boost morale, and reduce food consumption.

Realizing that he finished the meal alone, Rhea feel embarrassed.
“Sorry, I eat it all alone.”

“Don’t worry; I’ve had enough of it. I tasted it while I am cooking. I’m happy that you enjoyed your meal.”

“Yes, it was delicious. I would be happy if I could eat your cooking every day.”

After Rhea said that, Rachel is frozen in place. Rhea noticed that but he doesn’t know what is wrong.
“Rachel?”

“E-E-Eh, Rhea-san. Did you mean what you just said?”

“What did I say?”

“That you would be happy if you eat my cooking every day?”

“Of course. You will be a good wife someday.”

Hearing that, Rachel white skin turned red as if she was boiled in hot water.
“T-t-then, will you take the responsibility?”

*Ding*
The sound of the notification is different from what Rhea knows.

Rhea then stunned in place. His brain couldn’t process any of the information. Is this really the 『King of Kings』?
