Master of Dungeon Chapter 4
“I am Varn Redheart, accepted my fate as a master of dungeon.”
As soon as Varn said that, Ferluci smiled and look at him.
“Now, let your fate begin!”
A bright light surrounded Varn’s body and his head ached. He can feel something entering his mind. He even drop Gerrard’s arm and use both of his hand to press on his head.
“IT HURRTSSS!”
After few minutes of stinging feeling, Varn fell to the ground but didn’t lose his consciousness. Ferluci approaches him and smiled.
“Congratulations! You just passed the first test.”
Can only speak weakly, Varn asked him. “What do you mean by first test?”
“Just now, you were tested by the [God of dungeon]. In case the God didn’t choose you, you will die immediatelly.”
Varn clenches his fist. He is angry at Ferluci for hiding this fact but he has no strength remaining.
“Don’t worry about that small detail. More importantly now you’re a full fledged dungeon master.”
Varn now has some curiousity. “How many dungeon master is in the world? Judging from the number of dungeons, there must be hundreds right?”
Ferluci look at him who is lying on the ground and smiled.
“Not quite close. There is only around fifty dungeon master right now around the world and not even ten person reach A rank. Later on you’ll know how few of them made it to S rank. Isn’t that good? It will be easier for you to find the culprit responsible for your village massacre.”
Varn didn’t know he should be happy or not. True it will be easier for Varn to find out about his parent killer but in other hand it will be hard for him to reach S rank, even A rank seemes to be impossible now.
“Don’t fret about small details again. Let’s proceed with your dungeon creation process. Don’t you agree?”
By now Varn strength slowly returns. He pick up Gerrard’s arm and stand.
“Alright, tell me how do I create a dungeon.”
Ferluci finally doing his job as a dungeon watcher. “It’s easy, the first test is also a process of inputing information inside your brain. Now since you have recognized as a dungoen master by the dungeon’s God, you can now access the whole dungeon features. Just said out loud [dungeon control].”
Varn realized that in the first test, his head really hurt as if someone forcing something to go inside his head. It must be the information about dungeon. He prepared himself then said.
“[Dungeon Control]!”
In front of Varn, a ball of light appears and attracting wind to gather like forming a small hurricane ball. After it gathered, it blocks the sight of the ball of light. It spin causing some gust in the surrounding, condesed into a smaller form, then with a flash of bright light, a book is floating in the air.
The book slowly lands in Varn hand like attracted by magnet.
“Congratulations! Now, my job is finished. I’ll take my leave then.”
Ferluci bows down and then dissapear in a blink of an eye.
“Wait!”
Without even a chance to say something, Ferluci already gone.
“Now, what I have to do?”
Varn look at the worn out book in his hand and inspected it. In the front it has a big title written in gold.
“Dungeon Control”
Varn opened the book and see some prewords.
“Congratulations! You have been chosen as a master of dungeon. Out of millions of people, you’re selected to hold this power. In this book, you will know all the things that you have to do to create a dungeon. Wether you will use this power or not is up to you. However great power comes with a risk and you must bear with the consequences. Sincerely, God of dungeon.”
Now Varn is confused. When the name God of dungeon mentioned again, this is the first time Varn heard it. Varn knows the religion he believes in so far never mentioned anything about it. He flip the page and read again.
“Your Dungeon Status” is the title page.

“What is this?”
It doesn’t give Varn any clue on how to create a dungeon and what dungeon points mean. He flip the page again and find the page he need.
“Dungeon Creation Guide”
“To create a dungeon there are several thing you have to remember. The shape of your dungeon is based on your imagination. The better your imagination are, the better the results. Right now you’re eligible to create a dungeon of rank F. As an F rank dungeon master, you have to accumulate your dungeon points (DP) before you could go up in rank. When you create a dungeon, your dungeon points will be consumed.
Creating an F rank dungeon cost: 5000 DP.”
Varn right now have 10000 DP and it’s enough to create two dungeon, but he remembered that each dungeon have artifacts inside of them, trap and monster. What about the cost for all of those things? And Varn read small words written at the bottom of the page.
“Don’t use all of your dungeon point to create your dungeon because you need to install traps, monsters, and reward whoever that manages to raid your dungeon with artifact. In case your dungeon is defeated (in other words, someone manages to reach the deepest part of your dungeon) your points spent will not return to you and you may not have enough dungeon point to create another.”
Whoa! At first Varn thoughts that this will be an easy task. But after reading that he know just how hard it is. If one of your dungeon is created, the points that you have used will be wasted. Is that the reason why there’s only a small number of A rank and S rank dungeon? Lower level dugeon is easier to be cleared and that means a lot of point has been wasted while the real reason is to gather more.
Right now Varn is immersed in his own little world. He flip to read the next page.
“Dungeon Points”
“You can create and put a lot of things in your dugeon. Deeper level, more rooms, traps, monster, artifacts, even plants, vegetable, even baths and bed. Of course to create it you will need to spend your dungeon points. You could even create another dungeon or go up in rank by using your dungeon points. To gather dungeon points you could do various things but the easier is by killing another creatures inside your dungeon. Higher rank dungeon may even give you dungeon points by killing creatures inside your dungeon territory.
Ps: creature that gives the most dungeon points are human.”
Varn froze for a moments when he read the last part. Seriously he didn’t even think of killing anyone. He is now bringed back to reality. Does he really have the resolve to kill mankind?
He remembers his encounter with Rick and steel claw group. Because now he bear hatred towards them, he really want to makes them pay back but to kill them? They are also an A rank dungeon raider groups. If Varn dungeon is raided by them, he will lose his one and only chance.
He flip the book again and keep gathering information.
“Traps, Monster, and Artifact”
“Inside your dungeon you could put traps and monster to make kills easier and accumulate your dungeon points. Artifact could be used as a bait but remember it cost a lot of dungeon points. You could even use the artifact created inside your dungeon.”
After that the rest of the page mentioning the list of trap, monster, and artifact available for rank F. E rank and above is listed ????? In the book. After that the last part of the book is about “Miscellaneous”. It consist of creating a new room, levels, and even daily necessity.
Varn closed the book and stare at it.
Is it really something that he want? Where’s the Varn that aspire to be a great farmer? He look down and realized Gerrard’s arm in his hand.
“Dad.. Mom..”
He closes his eyes. Lift his head to the sky and make a resolution.
“I will avenge you!”
