Ps: some are asking me why I didn’t concentrate fully on TDADP but I have to tell you I didn’t neglect it at all. We used to have a chapter daily but it was when a chapter is around 800 to 1.3k words long. Now a chapter is around 1.5 to 2.5k words, 3 chapters per week is already exceeding what it used to be. 1.3 x 5 = 6.5, 2.5 x 3 = 7.5 did you get the point?

Ps: By taking new series, I was just adding more time to translate since I’m in the middle of job searching where I used the time to work before.

Ps: some may get discouraged from donating because of our broad selection of series, but hey, I didn’t care about it at all. This site is at first only hosted my original works. Added some translations and fellow authors joining me and hosted their works on this site. We didn’t do it entirely for money we just love what we do. At first, even translation was put on this site because I was getting stuck at writing my stories… you know writing inspiration is not something you can force to come. You write when there is an inspiration and while waiting it to come; I do translation on the side. Donation was accepted for translation but it was because I need some side income, at first donation is only for original works, so for those who just become residents of our rebirth online world recently, please understand where we come from and how we ended up at this point.

Ps: after all, I just want to share to you guys that there are good stories out there by translating new series. I know my translation is not perfect since it was machine translated, I may makes mistakes here and there but hey, it’s up to you to decide to read it or not ^^. Ps: new weekly schedule: 3 TDADP, 1 Neta Chara, 1 IGE (TDADP, IGE, and neta chara are fixed schedule but it may change if unforeseen event happened such as job interview), 1 zombie master (if there is an update), 1 werewolf (may be 2 depends on the chapter length), 1 TLGIPTT (may be 1 per two weeks depends on the chapter length since this one is 5k long but I’ll try to do it weekly). They are all done by me and they are all free, if you got anything else to complain, I don’t understand where that came from.

Chapter 1 – tutorial?

Virtual world.

It is something that evolved day by day. Being utilized in various field helped the science and technology to be growing.

The latest technology also applied into the game industry. Therefore a new era is born.

VRMMORPG 『Another World』.

It is the first Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game that incorporates the Virtual Reality system. Many of the people fascinated by it, experiencing the medieval setting fantasy world, taking up swords, chanting magic and defeating heinous monster.

The virtually created realistic world, brings the dream of adventure comes alive.

I was one of them. Those who are fascinated by it.

When the first broadcast is featured on TV, I couldn’t forget what I saw. The first VRMMORPG, the dream of facing huge dragon as a knight or magician is everyone’s dream. I made up my mind; I have to do anything it takes to play the game.

However since the VR technology is just developed for the game industry recently, the headgear 『VR-gear』 needed to play the game is very expensive. The price exceeded twice the price of a high-end PC. It wasn’t possible for someone like me, a high school student to get a hand on it.

At that time I was about to give up my dream, but I saw an article in the net.

Looking for 『Another World』 β Tester.

It was common for MMORPG to recruit β tester for the game. They are used to check for the bugs and adjust the game balance before the server is officially launched. 『Another World』 also employed the same principles. But, the 『VR-gear』 isn’t something that could be acquired by normal people. Therefore 200 lucky individuals will get the 『VR-gear』 too. I happen to be one of them.

Today, it is the day the β test is going to run.

I have waited long for this day, the day I set foot into the virtual world of 『Another World』.

“Is this the world inside the game?”

The first time I logged in, I was located inside the forest.

The smell of trees entered my nose. The breezing wind that touched my cheek, I couldn’t believe that this is just a virtual world. Even with the manual that was sent along with the 『VR-gear』 I couldn’t understands how this works.

Well, there is no time to admire this forever. I’ll try a lot of things as a β tester.

First of all, the basic of playing a game; status.

In front of me, there is a semi transparent screen floating in the air. There are 「status window」, to check the parameter of character, 「skill window」 to confirm the skill that you can use, 「quest window」 to check the progress of a quest, to check your items there is 「inventory」, last but not least is the 「map window」.

Now we just need to check that it is working properly. 「Inventory」. Inside it, there is a pre-equipped leather shirt, pants, sandals and wooden staff. There is also beginner Hp and Mp potion 5 each.

I wonder why the basic equipment is a wooden staff not a sword or dagger.

Another thing that you have to do is checking on the character stats and decided on a 『job』.

【Warrior】 is a close combat class, specializing in swords and shields. 【Archers】 is rearguard that uses bow. In the beginning of course I decided to be a 【Warrior】. However after reading the manual, there is some basic requirement suggested, either familiarity with the sword from kendo lesson or some physical exercise since the sword weight and the experience of brandishing the sword is the same as reality. Because of that, I eliminate the choice. I won’t go to such length if even just holding the sword will be a burden for me. Those actors on the TV make it looked like so easy but I know the weight of a real sword isn’t that light. That goes the same with 【Archers】 so the safest route is 【Magician】.

【Magician】 battles by using magic. It is not a close combat job so I don’t need to do extensive exercise; also I think that the wooden staff can be used as 【Magician】.

After that I switched back to 「Inventory」. It seemed possible to equip and store item just by touching it from the menu. Just touching a stone pebble on the road, some 「detail windows」 about it popped out and it is possible to store the item into 「Inventory」.

After that I looked again to my surrounding.

“Why there is no other user here?”

Today is the β test start date. The number of participant is 1000 player in total. It was strange that no other player show up.

Speaking of that, there is also no tutorial for beginners in order to understand the game control and rules aside from the manual book. Even older generation MMORPG have those.

Well, it might exist when the real game officially launched. After all this is only the β test.

Let’s move then. I won’t be able to do anything if I just stay here. There might be a town nearby.

Before I got the chance to open my 「map window」, a high-pitched scream of young woman can be heard.

Is this perhaps an event?

I move immediately searching the source of the sound. This might be the event! I got no choice but to check it out.

It seems that it wasn’t very deep inside the forest. I found the owner of the girl in less than two minutes. I saw a girl wearing blue long skirt with her red hair bundled into dumpling style. She is surrounded by hungry wolves that drooled looking at her tender meat.

Ah, this is an event to rescue a girl from the wolf. Since this is the beginning event, the wolf level is probably around 1-5.

Speaking of which… I’m still level 1, can I do this?

Ah, this must be the tutorial. The monster shouldn’t be too strong. At worst I may need to use 1 or 2 potion. This is just like any other MMORPG.

Tension raised before my first battle. My job as 【Magician】 is a ranged position. My job armor is like paper compared to close combatant and I probably could only survive one or two hits. It is also isn’t a good idea to engaged multiple enemies at once. Let’s try if I can catch the wolves on surprise attack from the distance.

Looking at my  「skill window」, there is a skill called 《Mana bolt》 level 1.

It is a single targeting spell with ‘intelligence’ added as non-attribute magic attack. It can accumulate decent damage if I have high ‘intelligence’. Looking at the wolves, their HP should be too high so I can do this.

Alright, I cast my skill at the nearest wolf.

A blitz of purple flew forward and hit the wolf. It raised a howl as it directed its attention towards me.

Attack or Die!

The wolves come charging at me because I attacked it.

《Mana bolt》 , cost a little MP since this is only the first skill. The time needed to cool down is only less than one second so let’s shot it in rapid succession.

The level 3 wolf isn’t defeated in one blow but under the rapid shot, two of the 《Mana bolt》 killed it without any problem. One after another the result is clear as the wolves fell into eternal rest.

Seems like I was right that it was only the first event. The wolves are quite weak. Even my level raises five times defeating them.

There are two possibilities.

First, I didn’t meet the requirement for the event to start. Maybe it depends on the level, race, and job. However for the starting events, it didn’t make any sense.

Second, actually she is a player that is hunting. But if that is true this is very very bad. What I did can be considered as KS (kill steal), taking away her prey.

“She must be another player.”

I need to move away from here to avoid further problem. This can’t be helped.

I didn’t apologize properly but I need to leave here ASAP.

“Please wait! Please, tell me your name.”

I apologized but apparently that is not enough. She won’t allow me to leave. Well it seems that she must be really angry right now.

Should I give out my real name? Once my name is exposed people will act hostile towards me.

Karo village is located in the south western part of the Castor kingdom. It was only a small village with 200 people. The peaceful frontier village which specialized in agriculture as their main products.

“Is that story true?”

A 50ish middle aged man, the Karo chief; is questioning a young man with panicked expression.

“I doubt it. It was impossible after all for a forest wolf to appear.”

Late morning, some merchants shocked the villagers. They said they are attacked by forest wolf. Forest wolf is a wolf monster that lives deep down in the forest. It is possible for an adult man to defeat it but their danger isn’t from their individual strength, it was their number.

It is a big problem if they appeared on the road since the traders will be reluctant to come and slowed down the village income. It may even caused the business to go out of the town.

“I wonder if it’s true.”

It was said by the merchants but the real problem isn’t the forest wolf.

Resurrection of the demon lord.

There is a time when the demon lord is defeated and sealed up by the gods. Since then, the monster never has been so aggressive. The recent monster sighting, is it because the demon lord has been resurrected?

“Chief!”

Suddenly a boy comes in and opened the door. The mayor speech was intercepted by that event.

“Why are you causing such commotion?”

“Lila is attacked by forest wolf when gather herbs!”

“WHAT!?”

The boy report immediately shocked the village chief.

Karo villagers sometimes go into the forest to gather herbs and wild fruits. Lila and Cynthia, her sister is also doing the same thing.

Since there is no danger of attacked by monsters, there is no problem for them to enter the forest. But today is different.

“Cynthia, be quiet. There is something.”

Lila is a girl around 14 years old. She gestured her hands, signaling her sister to hide with her. Cynthia her sister is younger by 2 or 3 years. She listened to her sister order seriously.

Two of the wolves leave the place but it still isn’t safe. There is still the largest wolf that looked at the bushes where the sisters hide. The forest wolf as if following his instinct felt that something is not right.

Lila could fear her chest tightens and attacked by fear as the wolf looked straight at her.

“Run!”

Cynthia couldn’t even replied properly and let out a scream. Of course it reached the wolves ears.

“Quick Cynthia, run away!”

Even if Lila didn’t commanded it, she is already running at full speed. The forest wolf chased behind them while growling.

There is some distance between them but the speed difference of human and wolves are clear.

In another seconds, the sisters will become their prey. Lila then can only think of the highest possibility to survive.

Lila stopped running.

“Cynthia, run straight to the village. I’ll hold back the wolves.”

“Sister, that is useless!”

“You need to go to the village and call for help while I stalled them.”

Cynthia then looked hesitated for a moment.

“Hurry!”

With watery eyes, Cynthia runs towards the village.

If Cynthia can survive, Lila accomplished her duty as a sister. She quickly picks up a tree branch nearby. It may not be a good weapon but if it can increase her survivability, it is enough.

The forest caught up to her but some still directed their gaze at Cynthia.

“AAAAAHH!”

Lila screamed to catch the wolves’ attention. They are soon surrounding Lila.

Lila is only a normal girl; she doesn’t have strength to ward off several forest wolves that is stronger than him. One of them then plunged at her.

“Ah!”

She swung the tree branch downwards trying to repel it. It worked but there isn’t only one wolf. One of the wolf claws caught the tree branch and she released it involuntarily.

There isn’t anything she could do anymore. Realizing that, she fell down, sitting on the ground.

The forest wolf realizing that there is no more resistance and slowly approached her.

The girl can only prayed while closed her eyes.

Another scream can be heard.

But it wasn’t coming from her. It was the wolves.

Lila opened her eyes slowly and see that the wolves attention isn’t on her.

“Who is that?”

Lila line of sight followed the wolves and she saw a black haired boy with black pupil holding a wooden staff standing. He looked very poor judging from his clothing. He must be around her age but he is taller a head than her. The skin is fair white as if he never gets out from the house and there is no muscle on his skinny stature.

She never saw him in the village.

“Is he a traveler?”

But seeing he only wear shorts and sandal, it wasn’t suitable for long journey. Just who on earth is this boy.

While thinking so, the situation has escalated. The wolves are pouncing towards the boy one after another. The boy however didn’t look panicked as he held out his staff towards the forest wolf and emitting thunder flashes.

Is that magic? Is he a magician?

She never saw a mage fighting before and he must not be on the way to visit the village since this place is quite desolate.

The five wolves are overwhelmed by him. He easily defeated the wolves.

The boy line of fight fell at Lila after he defeated the last wolves. However she is confused.

What is the true nature of the mage? He has helped her but she couldn’t say anything so she just stares at the boy. Given the silent treatment, the boy facial expression becomes troubled. Why is he become troubled?

“Sorry…”

The first thing that the boy said was an apology. Why an apology though? Perhaps to indicate that he didn’t mean harm to her? The boy then tries to leave before Lila got the chance to say thanks.

“Please wait! Please, tell me your name.”

Ah, why can’t I said thanks rather than asking his name?

“… Chaos.”

“Thank you for the help.”

But before Lila got the chance to say that, the boy can’t be seen anymore. Is it transition magic? It is an advanced magic that she can only heard in fairy tales. He must be busy saving other people around the world. That must be it.

Not long after, the search party from the village found Lila. Later that day she was then taken to the chief house.

“Why did you call me?”

“I want you to take a look at this.”

“What is it?”

It is a dead body of the forest wolf. There is no arrow wound or slashes on the body.

“A few days ago there is a report that forest wolf appeared on the road. I sent some people but we only found the dead body. It was done by magic perhaps.”

“No way, is it done by that boy? Chaos-san?”

“Yes, I think so. Even after saving you and helping this village to clear the road, he isn’t asked for something in return. Such a person is … a true hero.”

Lila chest feels hot after hearing the chief words. That boy must be really a great person.

Karo village later on will be one of the first places where his name will is recognized. The legendary hero, Chaos.
